Job Description
• Design and implement robust database engineering/administration solutions including
• experimenting with technologies like SQL SERVER, PostgreSQL, database resource
• management, security, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, data
• management and capacity planning, planning, and implementing failover between
• database instances.
• Develop database architectural strategies at the modelling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements.
• Conceptualize and enforce database development standards.·
• Implementation of Database Clusters, AlwaysOn Setup, troubleshooting, Partitioning and·
• Performance Optimization on SQL Server/PostgreSQL.
• Analyze the resource utilization trends and come up with strategy to assure stability and·
HA of production systems.
• Capacity planning· & system-level architecture in accordance with business projected
• volumes and infrastructure capacity
• OS/Storage/DB configuration and optimization·
• Plan and install upgrades of database management system software to enhance database· performance.
• Designing and Documenting a new SQL Infrastructure based on requirements gathered·
• (Performance/Capacity/DR/Business Continuity/Etc.)
• Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security,·
• performance and reliability.
• Work with application architects, system engineers, business analysts and others to·
• understand business or industry requirements and design the database accordingly.
• Monitoring and tuning of existing databases and related parameters like, Table space·
• utilization, CPU utilization, Hard Disk Utilization, Memory utilization, and alert log file.
• Leading, coordinating and participating in key process improvements as they relate to the·
• database environment.
• Work with existing Database Reliability engineering team in 24x5 shift model and weekend·
• on-call on rotational basis.
• What you'll need:
• Minimum 8 years on SQL database design and administration experience (8+ years on·
• SQL Server with Minimum 5 years database architecture experience.
• Hands-On Experience with SQL Server/PostgreSQL Administration (backup/recovery,·
• tuning, disaster recovery, migration) and write PostgreSQL Code.
• Performance tuning and query optimization experience on SQL·
• Server/PostgreSQL/Amazon Aurora.
• Hands-on experience with related/complementary software platforms and languages (e.g.·
• Python and PowerShell)
• Analyze resource utilization trends and come up with strategies to assure stability and·
• reliability of production systems.
• Provide meaningful inputs for capacity planning which eventually helps with cost·
• optimization for OS, storage, and database.
• Design and develop meaningful SLI (Service Level Indicators) and SLO (Service Level·
• Objective) dashboards for practical alert mechanism.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on technical leadership experience in designing, modelling and·
• implementing large data sets with relational database systems preferably MS SQL Server.
• Must have experience in handling large-scale multi-terabyte database architectures.·
• Experience working on AWS (Amazon Web Services) or equivalent Cloud platform.·
• Managing databases on Cloud, Migration, Scaling up databases on Cloud.
• Must understand the SQL Server architecture at a 200-300 level·
• Familiarity/experience on Site Reliability engineering practices like managing Incident·
• management/response, managing overload, practical alerting, effective troubleshooting,
• Non-abstract large system design and data processing pipelines.
• Strong understanding of database licensing schemes. Ability to develop TCO models and·
• assess business impacts, ROI etc. highly desirable.
• Understanding of how AWS Cost Per Resources Work and helping in designing Cost·
• Dashboards for Resource utilization.
• Experience with databases, such as PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora·
